On the Map (if you want to change the size after you see it, right-click on it), the old Districts are in solid color, and the boundaries have been moved outward to show the proposed new boundaries. Note that Middleway Election District would expand north into Shepherdstown and east into Kabletown Districts. Charles Town Election District would expand south into Kabletown and east into Harpers Ferry Districts. This does not affect city boundaries; these are only Election Districts for County offices.

Elections

There is 1 County Commissioner from each of the 5 Districts.

The next elections are for Commissioners from Harpers Ferry and Kabletown Districts (Hockensmith & Ruland seats),. Filing deadline Jan'02, primary May'02, general election Nov'02

There can be zero to 2 Board of Education members from each District, depending on voter choice. Currently there are 2 Board members each from the Charles Town and Kabletown Districts, 1 from Shepherdstown, and 0 from Middleway and Harpers Ferry.

In the next elections Board candidates may be from any District. Filing deadline Jan'02, general election May'02. (Elections are nonpartisan so there are no primaries.) Dougherty, Morgens & Togans seats will be up for election.

All these elections are county-wide. The restrictions are on candidates' residence, not on who you may vote for.
